WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A veteran stock-car driver, Robbie Brewer, tragically passed away this weekend after experiencing a medical emergency during a race at Bowman Gray Stadium. His car collided head-on with the wall on the quarter-mile track and came to a stop near the finish line.
Track personnel had to cut off the roof of his car to extract the 53-year-old driver, who was then rushed to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital, where he later died, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
