Shooting Incident at North Austin Target: Key Facts
Three people have lost their lives after a tragic shooting at a Target in North Austin. Austin Police Department (APD) confirmed that a suspect has been captured.
The shooting happened at around 2:15 p.m. on August 11 at the Target located on Research Boulevard. APD Chief Lisa Davis provided details in a recent press conference. Officers arrived quickly after receiving an emergency call and found three individuals shot outside in the parking lot.
The shooter fled in a stolen vehicle, likely taken from one of the victims. After crashing that car, he allegedly stole another vehicle from a nearby dealership. He was later found in South Austin and apprehended following a taser deployment.
Authorities identified the suspect as a 32-year-old white male with a history of mental health issues. At the scene, two victims were pronounced dead, while a third was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away as well. A fourth individual received treatment for unrelated injuries.
