Tragic Shooting at Air Force Base Gate: Airman Fatally Injured Following Off-Base Chase

Early Saturday morning, a tragic shooting occurred near Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. One airman was found dead, and another was injured but has since been released from the hospital.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. at the Truman Gate, where members of the 377th Security Forces Squadron responded. According to the Air Force, the injured airman suffered a gunshot wound to the hand.

Details surrounding the shooting indicate that it led to a pursuit that began off-base. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations, along with the FBI and Albuquerque Police Department, is currently investigating the incident. Fortunately, authorities stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
