Tragedy struck a food truck in Durham on Friday afternoon when a man was shot and killed.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 55, close to Wynne Road. Responding officers found the man with gunshot wounds. Despite their attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
At Taco Ardiente, where the shooting occurred, investigators placed evidence markers around the area as they worked to piece together what happened.
Initially, police were responding to a different situation on Garrett Road when they received news about the shooting on Highway 55.
According to radio traffic, the scene was tense. First responders reported, “Gunshot wound to the chest and head. Unalert, unconscious. CPR in progress.”
They were unsure how long the victim had been there. Sadly, even with CPR efforts, he did not survive.
Authorities believe this shooting is an isolated incident. Durham police continue to investigate the case.
