A man was found shot to death in Santa Clara, and a nearby house caught fire just moments later. The incidents, which took place in a quiet neighborhood near Enright Avenue, are now under investigation.
Police arrived quickly to find the man who had been shot. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Surveillance footage shows a confrontation in a driveway around 12:30 p.m. that escalated when one man pulled out a gun and shot the other multiple times. “I thought they were filming a movie with all the commotion,” said Marilyn March, a nearby resident. She returned home to find emergency crews battling the fire and heavily armed officers searching the area. “It looked like a scene from a warzone,” she added.
Witnesses indicated that the home on fire was a rental, occupied by a man for about two weeks. The victim was known as a father in the community. “He was friendly. We would often say hi,” said neighbor Farid Davanloo.
As of now, police have not revealed the victim’s identity or what led to the shooting or fire. No suspects are in custody, and the investigation is still ongoing.
