Tragic UPS Plane Crash: 3 Pilots Identified, Including Missing Mother of Two

Tragedy struck in Kentucky this week when a UPS plane crashed, claiming the lives of three pilots and leaving a mother of two missing. The flight, known as UPS Flight 2976, met a fiery end just after taking off from Muhammad Ali International Airport.

The pilots were identified as Capt. Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Capt. Dana Diamond. UPS expressed its deep sorrow in a statement, saying, “Words can’t express the sorrow we feel over the heartbreaking Flight 2976 accident.” The loss weighs heavily on the UPS family, with CEO Carol Tomé reminding everyone of their strength in unity.

Among those missing is Angela “Angie” Anderson, 45, who was at a nearby auto parts facility when the plane crashed. Her boyfriend, Donald Henderson, revealed he stayed home because he was tired. “I told her to go ahead, now I regret it,” he said, visibly shaken.

Tragically, Anderson is one of nine individuals still unaccounted for. Henderson shared their plans to dispose of some scrap metal when she left. “She’s all I got,” he lamented.

Local friend Angel O’Rafferty expressed her fears on social media: “PLEASE GOD bring her to safety along with the others.” Anderson had arrived at the crash site just moments before the plane went down.

The UPS aircraft was loaded with approximately 50,000 gallons of fuel during its short flight. Eyewitness videos show flames engulfing the left engine just before the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the incident, with the plane’s black box having been recovered for analysis.

What’s especially heart-wrenching is that among the deceased is a child present at the facility with a parent. Such tragedies highlight the unpredictability of life and the profound impact on families and communities. In 2023, aviation safety remains a crucial concern, with organizations like the NTSB working diligently to prevent future disasters.

As we await updates on the missing individuals, the community continues to come together, holding vigils and offering support to the families affected by this heartbreaking event.
