Alongside Klinner, the other victims were Capt. Ariana Savino, 31; Tech. Sgt. Ashley Pruitt, 34; Capt. Seth Koval, 38; Capt. Curtis Angst, 30; and Tech. Sgt. Tyler Simmons, 28, from various air wings based across the country. Each of these brave individuals had a profound impact on their families and communities.
Klinner’s brother-in-law shared heartfelt remarks, highlighting Klinner’s character and the love he had for his family. “He was one of the kindest and most giving people,” he said.
Simmons’ family expressed their grief, reminiscing about his infectious smile. He served as a boom operator, a critical role in air refueling operations. Similarly, Koval and Angst had long careers in the Air Force, with Koval having nearly two decades of experience.
The KC-135 aircraft involved has been a crucial component of U.S. military operations for over 60 years, providing essential midair refueling that extends the range and capability of combat missions. As of last year, the Air Force had 376 of these aircraft.
Military experts emphasize the importance of this technology, not just for tanking operations, but also for medical evacuations and reconnaissance missions. The ability to keep aircraft airborne longer can be vital in combat scenarios.
