Transform Your Google Docs into Engaging Podcasts with Gemini: Here’s How!

Google has some exciting updates coming to its Workspace apps, particularly with Gemini, an AI-powered tool. One standout feature is a new podcast style integrated right into Google Docs. Think of it as having an AI host review your work before you share it with anyone. This feature has already gained popularity in Google’s NotebookLM research tool, and it will soon be available in Workspace accounts.

With these podcasts, you can get audio summaries of your documents and even have your writing read aloud. This is a handy way to catch mistakes or to hear how your pieces flow. But I tried using this feature, and while it was interesting, I’m not eager to make it a regular part of my process.

Another neat addition is the “Help me refine” suggestion tool. Instead of rewriting your text, it offers comments on how to improve your existing draft. This concept comes from traditional editing and is extremely useful for anyone who doesn’t have a human editor handy. See, having an AI assist you in refining your work could be a real game-changer. This tool will roll out later this quarter.

Looking ahead, Google is also bringing new features to Sheets. For now, you can ask Gemini specific questions to assist with tasks like generating visuals. The upcoming feature, “Help me analyze,” aims to provide deeper insights by spotting trends in your data. With this, you’ll have guidance on how to approach your spreadsheets, almost like having your personal data analyst. However, we’ll have to wait until later this year to see this in action.

According to a recent survey by McKinsey, over 70% of executives believe AI will have a significant impact on their organizations in the next five years. This trend reflects a growing reliance on tools that can streamline tasks, make work more efficient, and enhance creativity.

In a world that’s always on the go, these AI-driven features can save time and boost productivity, making tasks easier and faster. Whether through audio summaries or smart editing suggestions, it looks like Google is trying to make work a little less burdensome and a bit more engaging.
