Press Release, Franciscan Health:
Franciscan Health is launching a virtual diabetes prevention program on October 1st at 6 p.m. Eastern time. This program helps participants at risk of diabetes make lasting lifestyle changes.
Did you know that over one in three adults may have prediabetes without realizing it? If left unchecked, this condition often leads to type 2 diabetes. But the good news is that programs like this can make a real difference. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), participants in similar programs see a significant reduction in diabetes risk when they engage in healthy eating and increased physical activity.
The Diabetes Prevention Program at Franciscan Health offers 16 weekly sessions, followed by six monthly follow-ups. Each participant works with a certified lifestyle coach. These coaches provide guidance on losing weight, staying active, managing stress, and building self-confidence.
This program is open to individuals aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with prediabetes. Participants should have a body mass index (BMI) over 25, or have a history of gestational diabetes or high diabetes risk. The registration fee for the entire year is $99.
Once registered, participants can join a Virtual Q&A session to learn more about the program and ask questions. To sign up or find more information, visit Franciscan Health Registration and Virtual Q&A Session.
This initiative taps into a growing trend where more people are taking charge of their health. A recent survey found that nearly 75% of individuals at risk for diabetes are seeking help with lifestyle changes, reflecting a positive shift towards preventative health care.
Don’t wait too long to take a step towards better health. This program could be the key to preventing type 2 diabetes.
