Transform Your Health Journey: How GlowUp Wellness Revolutionized Wellbeing in Greenville – Greenville Business Magazine

Shanisse Conway is the heart and soul behind Glow Up Wellness in Myrtle Beach. She’s not just a business owner; she’s a community leader. As the president of Black Myrtle Beach, she works hard to support Black-owned businesses. Every March, she helps organize the Melanin & Mimosas fundraiser, an event dedicated to empowering Black entrepreneurs.

Shanisse didn’t start her journey in wellness. Originally from New York, she earned a degree in Spanish education and taught for a few years in Philadelphia. But living far from her family took a toll on her health. She gained 70 pounds and battled depression, feeling disconnected from her usual active lifestyle.

Determined to change her life, Shanisse made small adjustments. “I started walking, and then it turned into jogging, then running,” she recalls. This journey ignited her passion for wellness, leading to the creation of Glow Up Wellness. It’s a reflection of her personal transformation—what began as a quest for health blossomed into a full-fledged business.

What makes her business special? Shanisse believes in transparency. “I keep it real with my clients about what they can expect,” she explains. Her approach involves practical advice on nutrition, coaching, and fitness, all aimed at inspiring genuine change.

Moving to Myrtle Beach posed its challenges. Some locals were skeptical of a newcomer starting a business. “It was tough at first,” she admits, but she didn’t let that stop her. She knew what she wanted to achieve.

Her vision for Glow Up Wellness extends beyond South Carolina. She aims to inspire individuals across the nation through nutrition, fitness, and a positive mindset. Her offerings include a range of services, from nutritional products to prenatal programs. She also organizes nutrition challenges to keep clients motivated.

One of her proudest achievements is her weekly walking group. Every Tuesday, participants come together to walk, rain or shine. “It began as a way to beat my depression,” Shanisse shares. “Now, it’s grown into a supportive community.”

Balancing motherhood and running a business hasn’t always been easy. “When I started, I didn’t have kids or a husband, so it was simpler,” she reflects. Now, with a family, she’s learned to manage both. “I’m blessed to have my husband’s support, which many women don’t have,” she adds.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Shanisse has simple advice: “Don’t overthink it. Find what centers you—mine is my faith.”

She describes her business in three words: fun, real, and timeless. “Fitness doesn’t have to be boring,” she insists. To her, wellness is about more than just physical health; it includes mental well-being and the community you build.

Shanisse’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance. It shows that personal growth can not only transform your life but also make a significant impact on those around you.
