A recent report from JYSK Polska sheds light on how sleep habits in Poland are evolving. While many people still prefer a single duvet, older adults are increasingly opting for two separate duvets. Among those aged 65 and older, 53% use one duvet, while 47% choose two.

The study looked at how long people sleep and their bedtime routines. Interestingly, only 45% of respondents said they need less than eight hours of sleep. In contrast, 39% require exactly eight hours, and 17% need more than that. Men typically report shorter sleep needs than women, and as people age, the number needing less sleep also rises.

Screen time dominates pre-sleep activities. Younger individuals often scroll through their smartphones, while older people prefer watching TV. The most common sleeping position is on the side, which 70% of people use; this climbs to 82% for those over 65, and women are more likely to sleep in this position. Daytime napping is quite popular, with 68% of respondents taking naps during the day.

Understanding these changing habits can help companies like JYSK develop products that promote better sleep. Sylwia Filimon, JYSK’s communications director, notes, “Good sleep is fundamental to health, wellbeing, and daily functioning.” This highlights the growing awareness of the importance of quality sleep in our lives today.

A survey from the National Sleep Foundation found that 63% of participants reported that stress affected their sleep, echoing the findings in Poland.
