Transforming Communities: Williamsburg Health Foundation Invests $3.9 Million in Local Organizations

The Williamsburg Health Foundation (WHF) recently announced it will distribute $3.9 million in grants to 23 nonprofits and government agencies. This funding aims to boost health and wellness in Williamsburg, James City County, and York County.

The grants will support initiatives in six key areas: Behavioral Health Services, Community Capacity Building, Healthy Aging, Healthy Eating Active Living, Integrated Care, and Two-Generation Family Services. Among the recipients are several first-time grantees focused on enhancing mental health support, transportation for brain injury recovery, social programs for older adults, trauma-informed training, and improved access to healthy food.

Deanna Van Hersh, WHF President and CEO, emphasized that the foundation listens to community needs. "Our learning informs how we can best respond, especially through our grants," she said. She expressed optimism about the positive changes these projects will create in the Greater Williamsburg area.

Since its formation in 1996, WHF has been dedicated to improving community health through innovation and collaboration. The foundation’s ongoing efforts showcase a commitment to adapt and respond to the evolving needs of the area.
