Transforming Global Fashion: How India’s Textile Industry is Weaving a Sustainable Future

The Indian textile industry is experiencing exciting changes, combining age-old craftsmanship with new technology. A highlight of this transformation was Bharat Tex, the largest textile trade fair in India, held recently in Delhi. This event showcased the latest innovations and attracted leaders from around the world in textile technology and engineering.

At the fair, Dinny Jusuf, the CEO of Indonesia’s TORAJAMELO, praised India for its strengths in natural fibers and dyes. She emphasized, “India is at the forefront of the textile industry,” noting the resources and skills that Indonesia lacks. The fair featured a stunning array of traditional and eco-friendly textiles, giving visitors a chance to appreciate India’s rich heritage and modern advancements.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the textile sector is thriving. The industry accounts for 11 percent of India’s manufacturing output, creating jobs for millions. Experts predict that the textiles and apparel market will grow at 10 percent each year, potentially reaching USD 350 billion by 2030. This growth positions India firmly as a global leader in textiles.
