Roseman University of Health Sciences, in partnership with PDS Health, has launched the Thorne Clinic for Integrative Oral Health and Primary Care at its Henderson campus. This impressive new facility spans 12,000 square feet and features 35 dental chairs, significantly enhancing the university’s ability to provide dental care. With a total of 62 chairs, the clinic can potentially handle up to 50,000 patient visits each year.
Funding for the clinic came entirely from PDS Health. Stephen E. Thorne IV, the founder and CEO, highlighted the significance of merging oral health with general medical care. He said, “Roseman University is creating a space where students see how oral health and medicine work together. This integrated experience will prepare them to collaborate and achieve better patient outcomes.”
Dr. Frank Licari, the dean of the College of Dental Medicine at Roseman University, emphasized the clinic’s importance in offering accessible, high-quality dental care. He remarked, “Today’s dedication is a proud moment for us and for Southern Nevada.”
The Thorne Clinic will also serve as a training environment for dental students, who will move from Roseman’s South Jordan, Utah campus to Henderson in January 2026. This setup allows students to provide supervised patient care while gaining hands-on experience.
In a push for modern healthcare delivery, the clinic will implement Epic, an advanced electronic health records system. This move is intended to enhance patient outcomes by highlighting the connections between oral health and overall health.
Moreover, the clinic will benefit from a grant from Dental Imaging Technologies Corporation (DEXIS), introducing cutting-edge digital imaging and diagnostic tools. Robert Befidi, president of DEXIS, stated the importance of AI technologies in shaping the future of dentistry: “The students training at the Thorne Clinic won’t just learn dentistry—they’ll master the tools that define its future.”
This initiative reflects a growing trend in healthcare to integrate different fields of medicine. Research indicates that patients receive better outcomes when oral health is part of their overall care. By training students in this integrated model, Roseman aims to prepare the next generation of dentists for the evolving landscape of healthcare.
