Transforming India: Highlights from ICMAI’s Inspiring Two-Day Symposium on Viksit Bharat 2047

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI) hosted a two-day symposium to explore its role in advancing India’s development. This event, called “Adaptation in a Changing Landscape – My Viksit Bharat 2047,” took place from February 28 to March 1, 2025, at the ICAR Convention Center in New Delhi.

On the opening day, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, inaugurated the symposium by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Dignitaries like Faggan Singh Kulaste and Bansuri Swaraj also participated as Guests of Honor. The event drew a diverse crowd, including young professionals, industrialists, and students, all eager to discuss the future of India’s economy.

During the first day, speakers praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047. Santosh Pant, Chairman of ICMAI’s Northern India Regional Council, expressed commitment to supporting this vision, emphasizing how their expertise in cost accountancy can drive progress.

Om Birla highlighted the importance of institutions like ICMAI in enhancing investment opportunities, noting that stable financial laws and reforms are essential for attracting economic investments. He pointed out that India’s economic strength is gaining recognition worldwide due to these reforms.

Bansuri Swaraj emphasized India’s significant progress on the global stage under Modi’s leadership. She called CMAs “silent policy influencers” and noted their involvement in major projects, including the Ram Lalla temple and the Chandrayaan mission.

Other notable speakers included former ambassador Deepak Vohra, who remarked on India’s rapid transformation, and motivational speaker Santosh Yadav, who attended the event to inspire attendees.

On the second day, Santosh Pant opened the program with a welcome address, joined by prominent figures like Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Prasar Bharti, and Dr. Shailendra Kumar, a former Joint Secretary. Pant emphasized the need to move beyond colonial mindsets and embrace a unique Indian identity for true development.

Dr. Shailendra Kumar underscored the importance of growth and a prosperous vision for India, while Navneet Kumar Sehgal highlighted the media’s crucial role in national development. Together, these insights aimed to foster a dialogue about India’s future and the significant contributions of cost accountancy to the economy.
