Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Saturday that BSNL’s new 4G technology, created in India, will transform connectivity across the nation. He emphasized its potential to connect rural villages, providing access to services in health, education, agriculture, and business, all with just a click. This initiative aims to make government services transparent and accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.
The launch, part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative, took place in Jharsuguda, Odisha, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating it. Fadnavis introduced the service in Pune, highlighting its importance for Maharashtra.
Fadnavis noted that communication technology is vital for development. He stressed that BSNL’s 4G system is just the beginning and could evolve into a 5G platform. This innovation places India among a select few nations that have developed a complete, self-made telecommunications system.
“Whenever faced with challenges, India has come together, showcasing its expertise and resilience,” Fadnavis remarked. He mentioned that this system opens up 1,100 online services, crucial for rural and tribal communities.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed pride in this achievement, calling it a pivotal moment in India’s technological journey. He praised PM Modi’s vision, stating that this technology could benefit over 25,000 villages, furthering the goal of a developed India by 2047.
In a notable shift, BSNL has moved from operating at a loss to reporting a Rs 262 crore profit after 18 years. This shift demonstrates the potential of indigenous technology in propelling the economy.
Raksha Khadse, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, highlighted that this initiative reflects India’s vision for self-reliance. With significant security benefits, the BSNL 4G technology was developed in just 22 months.
Harinder Kumar Makkar, the State Chief General Manager of BSNL, emphasized that this launch marks India’s advancement in telecom innovation, empowering sectors like education and health, and driving economic growth.
