Transforming Our Future: Key Insights from the Miami Climate Conference on Effective Environmental Action

Miami is gearing up for an exciting climate conference. The Miami Climate Week will take place from March 23-29, bringing people together to tackle environmental issues.

The highlight of this week is the “Resilience 365 Conference,” hosted by the University of Miami Climate Resilience Institute in partnership with Miami Climate 365 and Miami-Dade County. This event will be held on March 24-25, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Lakeside Village Expo Center on the Coral Gables Campus.

Michael Berkowitz, the executive director of the Climate Resilience Institute, emphasizes the importance of collaboration. He said, “Making our communities stronger in the face of shocks and stresses is an inherently interdisciplinary undertaking.” This conference aims to bring together diverse voices—academics, government officials, community leaders, and innovators—to find genuine solutions to pressing climate challenges.

Over two days, attendees will engage in discussions and networking with experts in resilience, public policy, finance, science, technology, and community engagement. Some notable speakers include:

• Henk Ovink, Executive Director of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water

• Geoffrey Supran, Professor of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Miami
