UNMC Parking Services is phasing out parking stickers and moving to a convenient digital recognition system. Starting the week of October 20, your vehicle’s license plate will serve as your parking permit, according to Timothy Faisetty, the manager for parking and transportation services at UNMC. Special digital plate readers will patrol the parking lots, ensuring compliance.

This new system will be available at the UNMC Omaha campus and the Munroe-Meyer Institute. To prepare for the switch, staff and students of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are encouraged to visit the parking services web portal to update their vehicle details. This includes the make, model, color, and license plate number. Each registrant can add up to three vehicles, but only one may be parked on campus at a time.

Even with this advanced system, violators will still receive paper tickets, and the necessary details will be logged for record-keeping.

Victoria Zajac, director of auxiliary services for finance and business, emphasizes that this system aims to boost parking compliance and enhance the overall experience. “We want to maintain fairness and accessibility, especially for patients and staff with valid permits,” she noted. “This change also addresses concerns about visibility associated with traditional parking stickers.”
