Transforming Patient Care: Adirondack Health’s Enhanced Imaging Services Featuring Advanced Fluoroscopy

SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Health has unveiled an exciting upgrade in its medical imaging department. They’ve installed a new Luminos Agile Max Fluoroscopy Unit. This replaces older equipment that had been in use since 2009. This upgrade was made possible through the generosity of local donors as part of the Elevate Health Together Annual Fund Campaign.

Fluoroscopy is an important diagnostic tool that helps over 2,000 patients each year. It provides real-time images of the body’s internal structures, useful for many medical procedures.

“This new equipment will help us provide safer, faster, and more accurate imaging,” said Jim Sabin, the Director of Medical Imaging. “Patients can expect improved comfort and less radiation exposure, which means better care overall.”

The Luminos Agile Max not only enhances image quality but also ensures the safety of both patients and staff. It will allow Adirondack Health to broaden its services and create a smoother experience for those undergoing procedures like gastrointestinal studies and joint injections.

This investment highlights Adirondack Health’s ongoing effort to strengthen healthcare in rural areas, a growing challenge across the U.S. As the sole full-service health system in the Adirondack Park, they serve a wide range of residents and seasonal visitors, ensuring everyone has access to quality medical care.

Heather Bumsted, chair of the Adirondack Health Foundation Board, stated, “This upgrade is about more than just new equipment; it’s a sign of our commitment to the highest standard of care. We are incredibly thankful to our donors.”

While this update is a significant milestone, fundraising efforts continue to fully support it and address future needs. The current campaign runs until December 31 and aims to raise funds for additional knee replacement instruments for the MAKO Robotic Surgery System. This will help meet the rising demand for minimally invasive, precise joint surgeries, improving patient outcomes.

In terms of public interest, community reactions have been positive. Residents have expressed excitement about better health services and care options. In online discussions, many have highlighted the importance of investing in local healthcare, especially in rural areas where access can be limited. Such upgrades not only improve services but also build community trust.

The integration of advanced medical technologies like the Luminos Agile Max signals a promising direction for rural healthcare. As technology continues to evolve, hospitals like Adirondack Health are poised to enhance patient care even further, proving that every donation and effort makes a difference.
