Prospecta Utilities is teaming up with Ciena to bring private 5G connectivity to GemLife Gold Coast, a lifestyle resort for those over 50 in Australia. This upgrade promises smart home features and better device connections, setting the scene for a “smart city” experience.
Ciena’s compact 5130 and 5164 routers are perfect for Australia’s tough weather. They ensure fast and reliable performance, even during cyclones or heatwaves. With plans to expand this technology to 30 more resorts by 2028, Prospecta’s initiative aims to transform residential living while streamlining resort operations.
The potential for private 5G is surging in Australia. A recent report by Grand View Research predicts a whopping 47.3% growth in this market from 2024 to 2030, estimating it could reach USD 504.2 million. Prospecta is ahead of the curve, installing a fixed wireless network at GemLife Gold Coast that enhances resident connectivity by linking smart devices, making life easier and more efficient.
Prospecta’s network combines various technologies to create a robust system. Ciena’s routers not only help manage data flow between devices but also adapt well to different environments, making them ideal for Australia’s diverse terrain.
Grant Smith, Head of Telecommunications at Prospecta, shared his vision: “We see these GemLife resorts as models for private 5G ‘smart cities’ across Australia. Ciena’s routers are key to our flexible, scalable approach, which allows us to connect with different vendors efficiently.”
This partnership highlights the growing trend of smart living spaces. As more communities embrace advanced technology, the future looks bright for seamless connectivity and enhanced lifestyles.
