UK-based Inspired Pet Nutrition (IPN) is set to acquire Sopral, a French maker of premium dry pet food. This deal is pending regulatory approval, and the financial details haven’t been shared.
Sopral runs a large facility in Pléchâtel, Brittany, and produces well-known brands like Pro-Nutrition Prestige and Pure Life. They also employ over 130 workers and have a strong sales presence in more than 50 countries, including expanding online sales.
This acquisition will enhance IPN’s manufacturing capabilities in Europe. IPN is known for its brands like Harringtons and Butcher’s, and has been actively growing its portfolio through recent acquisitions, including Pet Food UK in 2021 and Butcher’s Pet Care this past August.
Arthur van Benthem, CEO of IPN, noted, “Sopral is an excellent and growing business. This acquisition is a big step for us and helps strengthen our position in the European market.”
Sopral’s facility isn’t just for manufacturing; it also has advanced research and development capabilities. This focus on quality has helped them establish a strong reputation in the pet food industry.
According to recent data from Petfood Industry’s Top Companies report, Inspired Pet Nutrition is the largest independent dry pet food producer in the UK. As the demand for premium pet food continues to rise, this acquisition could position IPN for even greater success.
Overall, IPN’s growth strategy highlights their commitment to expanding in both the UK and Europe. By integrating Sopral’s expertise and resources, they aim to meet the evolving needs of pet owners and their furry friends.
