For the last ten years, the Lagos City Marathon has become a significant event in promoting a healthier lifestyle among Nigerians. Sam Okolie, the senior Brand manager at Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC), highlighted this during the recent marathon celebration.
The marathon has partnered with SBC since it started in 2016, making it the official beverage partner. SBC provides popular drinks like 7Up, Aquafina, and Pepsi to keep the runners hydrated and energized throughout the event.
Okolie expressed pride in SBC’s role in the marathon’s journey. “Our goal is to inspire a youthful lifestyle,” he noted. By providing refreshments, SBC aims to support the runners, whether they are amateurs or professionals.
The marathon is not just a race; it’s a celebration of diversity and unity. Okolie mentioned that everyone runs for different reasons, and SBC is there to support every runner on their journey. The company worked closely with the organizers to set up water stations and refreshment booths along the route, ensuring participants stay energized from the National Stadium in Surulere to Eko Atlantic City.
In particular, the 10km race has attracted many local runners, showcasing the excitement at the starting line in Lekki Phase One. SBC’s branding was visible throughout the marathon, from the start of the 42km professional race to the fun-filled 10km event.
At the start of the 10km race, Supa Komando energy drink set the tone, while Mirinda added a splash of color and flavor at the finish line. Participants also enjoyed sampling the new Mirinda Orange, available in a convenient 60cl PET bottle.
