Tron: Ares Faces Challenges with .5M Global Opening, While Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle Soars to No. 5 Worldwide in 2025 Box Office Rankings

Disney’s Tron: Ares had a soft debut, earning $60.5 million globally, with $27 million coming from international markets. Despite the lower numbers, the film did better in some areas compared to its predecessor, Tron: Legacy (2010).

Latin America helped boost its performance, leading the box office in several countries, including Brazil and Mexico. Other countries like Spain, the UK, Australia, and Hong Kong also contributed to its success. However, local films in Germany and Korea are still dominating those markets.

Excitingly, IMAX screenings are available for another two weeks, and there’s limited competition coming up. The film is set to release in China on October 17, which may help boost its international numbers further.

This weekend’s top markets included:

  • Mexico: $2.9 million
  • UK: $2.4 million
  • France: $1.9 million
  • Australia: $1.5 million
  • Germany: $1.4 million

Meanwhile, Warner Bros’ One Battle After Another continues to perform well, with a global total of $138 million, having dropped just 32% in its second week.

In family-friendly films, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie earned $7.2 million, bringing its global total to $46 million. Another Warner Bros film, The Conjuring: Last Rites, has reached an impressive $473 million worldwide, marking it as a significant hit in the horror genre.

On the anime front, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has soared to $648 million globally, becoming the top-grossing international film ever in North America, surpassing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

As films navigate a competitive marketplace, they reflect a blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, drawing in audiences in both established franchises and fresh narratives.
