ESTERO, Fla. – The Troy men’s golf team wrapped up the Old Corkscrew Invitational with a fourth-place finish. Jake Springer and Pablo Gracia led the Trojans, both tying for 10th place.
Going into the final round, Troy was in second position but slipped to fourth after scoring 12-over par. Springer and Gracia both shot 1-over in their last round. Nick Fowlkes followed with a 3-over score.
Gracia stood out with four birdies, while Springer raised his tournament total to 11, which ranked as one of the highest in the field. The Trojans excelled in consistent play, finishing second in the tournament with 159 pars, even though they were in the middle of the pack with 43 birdies.
Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic struggled but still managed to secure the team title despite shooting 10-over on the day, edging out Florida Gulf Coast by three shots. Louisiana finished just ahead of Troy in third place.
Individually, Fowlkes ended tied for 14th at 4-over, with Lee Poppell and Laurenz Kubin placing tied for 19th and 50th, respectively. Notably, Troy played without their top player, Brantley Scott, ranked 28th nationally, due to illness. Jason Quinlan competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 54th place.
Upcoming, the Trojans will conclude their regular season at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, hosted by Mississippi State at The Old Waverly Golf Club.
