Trump Appoints Ex-Junk Food Lobbyist to Key USDA Role in ‘Make America Healthy Again’ Initiative

President Donald Trump has chosen Kailee Tkacz Buller to lead the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). This decision raises eyebrows since it contrasts sharply with his promise to “make America healthy again” on Inauguration Day.

Buller previously worked at the USDA during Trump’s first term. Most recently, she was involved with lobbying for the seed oil industry. She held leadership roles in the National Oilseed Processors Association and the Edible Oil Producers Association. Health experts often criticize seed oils for their link to obesity, diabetes, and various health issues.

Notably, public figures, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have voiced concerns about the health implications of these oils, suggesting that many Americans are “unknowingly poisoned” by them.

During Trump’s inauguration festivities, he highlighted his health campaign with a special, seed oil-free menu at the “MAHA Inaugural Ball.” Now, Buller will serve as the chief of staff at the USDA. She will work closely with Brooke Rollins, who has started her confirmation process to lead the agency. Together, they will handle pressing issues like supporting farmers, promoting agricultural trade, ensuring food safety, protecting resources, and combating hunger both domestically and globally.
