President Trump has chosen Dan Bongino, a well-known right-wing commentator, to be the deputy director of the FBI. Trump praised Bongino on social media, calling him a man filled with love and passion for the country. Bongino will work under the newly appointed FBI director, Kash Patel.
At 50 years old, Bongino has quite the background. He is a former NYPD officer and worked for the Secret Service, protecting Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He is also popular for his podcast, which often gets more attention on Facebook than posts from major news networks like Fox News and CNN.
After the announcement, Bongino expressed his gratitude on social media, thanking Trump, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel. He mentioned that he is ready to step away from his podcast to take on this new role. Trump stressed that Bongino would help restore fairness and justice in America and said he would do an incredible job at the FBI.
Bongino has run for Congress three times and famously hosted Trump on his podcast, The Dan Bongino Show, just before the last election. His recent episodes explore various topics, with titles like “Trump Keeps Delivering And The Libs Are Seething.” In 2018, he remarked that his mission revolves around opposing liberal views.
Patel, Bongino’s new boss at the FBI, was just confirmed by the Senate. While Democrats have cautioned that he might retaliate against Trump’s opponents, Patel has denied any plans for political vendettas, promising instead to rebuild the agency.
