Trump Declares Tesla Boycott ‘Illegal’ and Announces Plans to Buy One in Support of Elon Musk!

On February 11, 2025, in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump expressed his intent to buy a Tesla. He wants to support Elon Musk, especially as Tesla faces challenges with sales and stock prices during Musk’s involvement in politics. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.”

Trump also claimed that “radical left lunatics” are unfairly boycotting Tesla. He praised the company as one of the best automakers in the world and suggested that these boycotts are aimed at Musk personally.

Musk has expressed the difficulties he faces running his businesses while being a prominent political figure. He mentioned in an interview that leading Trump’s government efficiency initiative has made it challenging to manage Tesla. This shift in focus has apparently affected Tesla’s stock performance, which saw its worst day since 2020 and has dropped to 45% down in 2025.

As tensions rise, reports of vandalism against Tesla vehicles and protests against Musk have been growing. This backlash suggests that Musk’s political role might be damaging the brand’s reputation. An analyst noted that the fear of vandalism might deter even loyal customers from choosing Tesla.

Despite these challenges, Trump defended Musk, stating he is doing a “fantastic job” and risking a lot for the country. Following Trump’s announcement and positive remarks, Tesla’s stock saw a slight uptick of over 2% in pre-market trading. Additionally, a Morgan Stanley note encouraged clients to buy Tesla shares after the recent drop.
