Trump Overlooks Key Detail in His ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ – What You Need to Know!

Donald Trump recently invited some hesitant GOP moderates to the White House to push his ambitious “One Big Beautiful Bill.” However, the meeting turned awkward when members pointed out that the bill cuts Medicaid, contradicting Trump’s earlier warnings not to touch it if Republicans want to win elections.

During the discussion, Trump stated that Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security should remain untouched. A member swiftly reminded him, “But we’re touching Medicaid in this bill.” This is a significant issue, as the Senate version of the bill cuts over $1 trillion from Medicaid, potentially leaving around 11 million people without coverage, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

This massive 940-page bill also allocates $150 billion to the Pentagon and $350 billion for immigration enforcement, including funding for 10,000 new ICE officers. The Senate passed it narrowly, with Vice President J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.

Complications arose during the process, such as travel delays and factional disputes among Republicans, which pushed past deadlines and threatened Trump’s goal of signing the bill by July 4.

House Speaker Mike Johnson faced challenges in securing a procedural vote, and amid the chaos, Trump had a late-night meltdown on social media. The spotlight now turns to the House, where Republicans can afford only three defections, and one member, Thomas Massie from Kentucky, has already pledged to vote against it.

In response to concerns about the bill, a White House spokesperson claimed it aims to “protect Medicaid for generations” by cutting waste and fraud. However, skepticism remains among many lawmakers and voters alike.

Recent surveys show that public support for Medicaid is strong, with 73% of Americans opposing cuts to the program. This sentiment reflects a growing concern as voters become more aware of healthcare issues.

As debates continue, the focus is on how Republicans will navigate these internal challenges. With the spotlight on the House, the unfolding drama is far from over.
