U.S. President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The truce will happen from May 9 to May 11. This news came via a post on Truth Social, where Trump expressed his hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian officials confirmed the ceasefire. Russia had previously declared a separate two-day ceasefire for its Victory Day celebrations. Ukraine had also proposed a truce earlier, but did not receive a response from Moscow.
Trump noted that the ceasefire aims to halt all military activities. He mentioned a significant aspect of the agreement: a prisoner swap of 1,000 individuals from each country.
