Trump believes it will be large enough for significant events, even a future presidential inauguration. He mentioned that fundraising for this “phenomenal” space is on track and hopes to have extra funds once construction concludes.

During his speech, Trump emphasized the importance of the White House, saying, “There’s nothing like it. It’s just a special place, so we have to take care of it.”

The dinner featured a luxurious menu, including heirloom tomato salad and beef Wellington, served on gold-trimmed plates. Guests included representatives from major corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Google. Political figures such as Chris LaCivita, co-campaign manager for Trump’s 2024 bid, were also in attendance.

Plans for the ballroom include a capacity for up to 999 people, a significant increase from the current East Room’s limit of 200. However, the project still awaits approvals from the National Capital Planning Commission and the Commission of Fine Arts. Trump claimed that as president, he faces no zoning challenges and can proceed as he wishes. This statement raises questions about oversight, as constructing enormous spaces in historic areas often requires careful planning.

Interestingly, a recent survey found that 54% of Americans believe such lavish spending in government projects is inappropriate given ongoing economic challenges. This highlights a disconnect between lavish political activities and public sentiment, especially during times of financial constraint.

Moreover, Trump unveiled another ambitious project during the dinner—an arch for the Arlington Memorial Bridge, which will connect Virginia to Washington, D.C. The proposed design features Lady Liberty at its pinnacle, with Trump describing it as “beautiful.”
