President Donald Trump recently stirred excitement in the crypto world by announcing that Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano will be part of a new “Crypto Strategic Reserve.” This news sparked a significant rise in the prices of these cryptocurrencies.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the reserve would strengthen the cryptocurrency industry, countering what he called years of “corrupt attacks” from the previous Biden administration. He expressed his commitment to making the United States the leading hub for cryptocurrency, declaring, “We are MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Following Trump’s announcement, Cardano’s value surged by more than 70%. XRP and Solana also saw impressive gains of over 30% and 20%, respectively. Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two largest cryptocurrencies by market value, rose by more than 10% as well, despite not being specifically mentioned in the initial announcement.

Details on how this reserve would function are still vague. Some crypto fans were left disappointed, interpreting the term “stockpile” to mean that the government would only keep assets it already possesses rather than actively investing in new cryptocurrencies.

Trump’s relationship with Bitcoin has evolved. Initially calling it a “scam,” he has since adopted a more favorable stance, promising during his re-election campaign to position the US as the “crypto capital of the planet.” His administration has also begun reducing regulations that were set in place by Biden, making recent moves against companies like Coinbase, Binance, and others less severe.

As a testament to his commitment to the crypto industry, Trump plans to host the first-ever White House Crypto Summit soon, signaling a new era for cryptocurrency in the US.
