Donald Trump recently shared some humorous thoughts about two NASA astronauts, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been on the International Space Station (ISS) for nearly a year.
During a press conference from the Oval Office, Trump highlighted their unusual situation, saying, “We’re coming up to get you.” He revealed that he had contacted Elon Musk, asking if SpaceX could assist in bringing them home. He jokingly added, “I hope they like each other… maybe they’ll love each other.” His light-hearted remarks drew laughter from the audience.
Wilmore and Williams launched to the ISS in June on a Boeing Starliner, expecting an eight-day mission. However, several technical issues turned their stay into a nine-month saga, making it too risky for NASA to bring them back home sooner.
Fortunately, SpaceX plans to rescue them. They’re scheduled to return on the Crew-9 flight around March 19 or 20.
This isn’t the first time Trump has cracked jokes about love. A clip from 2013 resurfaced last summer, where he gave some candid relationship advice on The Wendy Williams Show. He offered insight on trust issues in long-term relationships, emphasizing the importance of communication.
