If you visit the White House’s climate change page, you will see a “404: Page not found” message. The same goes for the climate-related sections on various government websites, including the Departments of State, Defense, Transportation, and Agriculture. Those resources seem to have vanished.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also made changes, hiding climate change information from its main page and environmental topics. This trend is not a coincidence. Trump, who openly questions global warming, has taken a strong stance against climate science. His administration is described as waging a “war” on scientific understanding, a term coined by American historian Robert Proctor. This quick shift has alarmed many experts.
Stanford University professor warned, “We are entering a golden age of ignorance.” Valérie Masson-Delmotte, a notable climate scientist, believes this threatens the very foundation of knowledge established during the Enlightenment. She stated that the current administration views scientific facts as a threat, leading to a troubling environment for discourse in a democratic society.
