Trump Unveils Ambitious $500 Billion ‘Stargate’ Initiative to Transform AI Infrastructure

President Donald Trump recently announced a massive $500 billion partnership. This venture includes Oracle, SoftBank from Japan, and OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Its goal is to enhance the country’s artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The announcement took place at the White House and featured prominent figures like SoftBank’s CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle’s CTO Larry Ellison.

According to Trump, this project will be the biggest AI infrastructure initiative ever, calling it a strong vote of confidence in America. “It’s all happening here in America,” he said, highlighting the intense competition in AI technology.

Following this news, shares of SoftBank jumped over 8% in value. The venture, dubbed Stargate, will start with an initial commitment of $100 billion, potentially reaching $500 billion over four years.

The funding aims to create massive data centers and the necessary infrastructure to support AI technology. Trump emphasized the importance of keeping these developments within the US due to competition from China and other nations.

SoftBank and OpenAI will take the lead on this project, with Son stepping in as chairman. This announcement came just after Trump overturned an executive order from Joe Biden that imposed safety guidelines for AI development.

These previous rules required companies to report their safety test results to the US government. With Trump’s new order, Stargate and similar AI initiatives will no longer have to follow national development guidelines, though states might still impose their own regulations.

Son remarked that Stargate marks the start of a “golden age.” This project will also involve some of the top tech companies in the US, including Microsoft, NVIDIA, and others, according to OpenAI.

OpenAI mentioned that construction is already beginning in Texas, with other locations being considered across the country. The Stargate project aims to reinforce US industrial strength and enhance national security for America and its allies.
