The skit kicked off with Teller’s Drew announcing their ambitious project. Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, jumped in with a cheeky question, “Which one of you is married to New Girl and which one is the gay?” Jonathan quickly set the record straight, saying he was the one married to Zooey Deschanel from New Girl.
As the scene unfolded, Jonathan noted that the Trumps moved into the White House nine years ago and humorously mentioned they had been “evicted for four years.” Drew added that Trump had a knack for design. In a funny twist, they had Trump placing gold urns around the White House, who light-heartedly remarked about needing joy amidst a chaotic world, even joking about some of his own actions.
Despite already redesigning parts of the historic residence, the Trumps felt something was missing. Melania chimed in about needing both more space and a ballroom for dance parties, hinting at Trump’s love for dancing.
When it came to budget, Jonathan jokingly estimated it at “between $350 million and infinity.” Their banter about construction permits was met with laughter from Trump, who quipped about building the ballroom with “the bones of my enemies.”
The skit took a wild turn when Trump expressed his desire for an MMA ring on the White House lawn for both official and casual fights, reminiscing about the absurd concept of “bum fights.”
During the renovation, Jonathan revealed that the East Wing was demolished in just two days, thanks in part to furloughed workers from a government shutdown—adding another layer of absurdity to the project.
Despite a few hiccups, including the realization that deported construction workers set back their plans, Drew remained optimistic about the ballroom being a “shining beacon of freedom for all Americans.” This comment raised some eyebrows as the scene shifted to Trump flippantly saying the ballroom would be ready for his “third term.”
In a final comedic twist, when the Property Brothers sought payment, Trump made a jab at their Canadian roots by calling ICE on them, humorously highlighting the absurdity of the situation.
