Recently, Trump made an announcement about his pick for education commissioner. However, he mistakenly called Penny Schwinn, the former Tennessee Commissioner of Education, “Peggy.” Despite his praise for Schwinn’s track record, he kept using the wrong name in his post.
Trump highlighted Schwinn’s background as a teacher and her role in founding a charter school. He emphasized her belief in school choice and her commitment to improving education in America.
In his message, Trump congratulated Schwinn, saying, “Congratulations to Peggy and her wonderful family!” As of Saturday morning, the post with the name error was still visible on Truth Social.
This isn’t the first time Trump has mixed up names. Last year, while questioning President Biden’s cognitive abilities, he referred to former Rep. Ronny Jackson as “Ronny Johnson.” On the campaign trail for 2024, he also confused the names of Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi, later claiming the mix-up was intentional.
These gaffes have drawn attention and criticism, with many noting the inaccuracies in his statements. Keeping track of names is important in politics, and these errors can sometimes overshadow the intended messages.
