As tensions rise, Iran is dealing with internal strife as well. Recently, the country executed an individual accused of espionage for the CIA and Israel’s Mossad. This action follows a series of executions since nationwide protests erupted in January. Human rights activists criticize Iran’s judicial practices, alleging that trials are often closed and lack fairness.
