SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT (February 4, 2025) – Kyle Dezotell, the head coach of men’s soccer at Tufts University, has been selected for the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. This honor places him among an esteemed group of athletes recognized for their remarkable achievements in the Green Mountain State.
A Vermont native, Dezotell excelled in soccer and Nordic skiing. During his senior year at North Country Union High in 1998, he earned All-American honors and became the Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year. He set a scoring record in the Metro Division that still stands today. Following high school, he attended Middlebury College, where he played a key role in securing an ECAC title in 1999 and the school’s first NESCAC title in 2000. Dezotell finished his college career as the all-time leading goal scorer for the Panthers, racking up 34 goals, 22 assists, and 90 points.
In addition to his soccer talents, Dezotell was a standout Nordic skier. He clinched the Vermont State freestyle championship and triumphed at the New England Championships in classical skiing. He was also part of Middlebury’s Nordic team.
Dezotell began his coaching journey at VTSU Johnson in 2004. Over the years, he has led programs at Norwich, Manhattanville, and Ithaca College. Since taking the helm at Tufts for the 2020-21 season, he has guided the Jumbos to an impressive record of 49 wins, 9 losses, and 20 ties. Under his leadership, the team captured a NESCAC title and made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. With a total coaching record of 234 wins, 115 losses, and 53 ties, Dezotell has laid a strong foundation for the Jumbos’ future success.
