This win marked the first time since the 2014-15 season that Tulane has recorded at least nine wins in non-conference play. They’ve now improved to 2-0 against Portland State, with both victories occurring on their home court.
Woods led the team with 21 points, shooting impressively — making 6 of 9 field goal attempts and going a perfect 9 for 9 at the free-throw line. This season, he has scored in double figures seven times, including two games with more than 20 points.
Rowan Brumbaugh also shone brightly, contributing 14 points and maintaining a flawless record at the foul line with 7 of 7. He has scored in double digits for six games straight. Tyler Ringgold rounded out the top performers with 10 points, primarily scoring in the second half.
The game started slowly, with Tulane facing a 20-13 deficit at one point. However, they made a solid comeback, ending the first half ahead, 24-22. The second half saw Tulane extend their lead to as much as 12 points, but Portland State fought back, eventually tying the game at 61. With just two seconds left, Woods stepped up and calmly hit both free throws, sealing the win.
