Turkey Partners with Germany for Innovative Defense Technology Transfer: What It Means for Future Collaborations

Turkey’s defense sector is set to enhance Germany’s military strength with a new technology transfer deal. Turkish company Repkon has partnered with a top German artillery manufacturer to create ammunition for the German Army at a 155-millimeter explosive filling facility.

Since the onset of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the need for artillery ammunition has surged. Countries around the world, including Germany, have ramped up their military production to meet this demand, especially as Germany continues to provide military support to Ukraine, as reported by News.Az citing Anadolu Agency.

Repkon is gaining attention for its artillery production skills. The company has already established production facilities for nations like the US, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan.

With this new deal, Repkon will set up a turnkey facility in Germany, significantly increasing the country’s capacity for 155-millimeter artillery. This facility is expected to start operations by early 2027.

The new plant will focus on filling both current and future explosives, using advanced automation for efficiency and requiring minimal workforce—making it one of the first of its kind.

As part of the agreement, Repkon will also supply 155-millimeter artillery shells.

Repkon, a leader in artillery filling, has expanded its capabilities by acquiring Bowas, an engineering firm with operations in Austria, Italy, and Switzerland.

Bowas brings expertise in both military and civilian explosive production, which further strengthens Repkon’s ability to meet growing demands.

Uniquely, Repkon is the only company globally that independently constructs facilities for metal parts production, explosive filling, and explosive manufacturing.
