A suspect is under arrest following a shocking double homicide in Long Island. The incidents occurred early Friday morning, with two individuals tragically stabbed to death, as reported by Nassau County police.
Around 12:30 a.m., a woman was attacked outside a Wendy’s restaurant where she worked. The victim, identified as Ana Maria de Aguilla Cordova, was a mother of two from Long Beach. Her niece, Maria Soto, expressed her grief, saying, “We want justice, because this is insane. We want justice for Ana.”
Hours later, police found a second victim at a residence in Valley Stream. Authorities confirmed both stabbings are connected and that the suspect was familiar with the victims. The suspect was apprehended near a 7-Eleven in Lynbrook.
The restaurant owner described Ana as a kind-hearted person who had worked there for several years. “Everyone says she was good. She had no enemies,” Soto recalled, confused by the tragedy.
Neighbors voiced their shock and disbelief. “This neighborhood is usually very quiet,” said Anthony Roldan. “It’s unsettling to hear about something like this.” Bishop Claude Hibbert, whose church is near the crime scene, noted how uncommon such events are in the area. “Normally, it’s a peaceful place,” he added.
Residents pointed out that violence seems out of character for their community. “We don’t usually have problems here,” said Mike Steinke, emphasizing the area’s safety. Another neighbor, Marissa Plesser, lamented the growing tendency for conflict over communication.
As the police continue their investigation, they plan to release more details about the suspect’s relationship with the victims. Updates are anticipated soon, as the suspect is expected to face charges in a forthcoming arraignment.
