Two States Celebrate Lucky Winners as Powerball Jackpot Soars to Nearly .8 Billion!

Winning tickets for the recent Powerball jackpot, which approached a staggering $1.8 billion, were sold in both Missouri and Texas. This jackpot is notable as it totaled $1.787 billion, making it the second-largest lottery payout in U.S. history, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association.

Winners have a choice: they can take an annuity across 30 years, valued at about $893.5 million, or opt for a one-time cash payment of $410.3 million, which is subject to taxes.

In addition to the grand prize, there were other significant wins. Two tickets sold in Kansas and Texas each won $2 million, while 18 tickets across 13 states snagged $1 million each.

The winning numbers for this draw were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, plus the red Powerball number 17, with a Power Play multiplier of 2.

As this jackpot resets to $20 million for the next drawing, it’s interesting to note that Saturday’s win ended a long stretch. There had been 42 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner since May. The odds of winning remained tough, standing at 1 in 292.2 million.

Lotteries like Powerball have been around for decades, providing both excitement and a chance for life-changing wins. The largest Powerball jackpot ever recorded was $2.04 billion, won in California in November 2022.

These figures not only highlight the thrill of playing but also the substantial impact such prizes can have on local economies and winners’ lives.

If you’re interested in trying your luck, $2 tickets are available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
