UAA Seawolves Make Waves: Join the US Ski Team!

PARK CITY, UTAH – Exciting news for ski fans! The United States Ski Team has announced its members for the 2026-27 season, featuring promising talent from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).

Corbin Carpenter and Murphy Kimball, both current UAA skiers, have made their mark on the D-Team. Carpenter, hailing from Carbondale, Colorado, shone at the 2026 U23 World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway, where he finished 10th in the 20-kilometer freestyle and 13th in the 10-kilometer classic. He also earned All-American honors by securing fifth place in the 7.5-kilometer classic and sixth in the 20-kilometer freestyle at the NCAA National Championships.

Murphy Kimball, from Anchorage, is no stranger to competition. He has participated in six World Cup races for the U.S. and represented the team at the World Junior Championships in 2025 and 2026. Notably, he finished sixth in the freestyle sprint at the 2026 Championships in Lillehammer.

Returning to the A-Team is JC Schoonmaker, a Tahoe City native. Schoonmaker has an impressive resume, having competed in 89 World Cup races since his debut in 2020. He has one podium finish and has participated in the Olympics twice (2022 & 2026) as well as in three World Championships (2021, 2023, 2025). He was also a three-time All-American while skiing for UAA from 2018 to 2022.

Recent studies show that skiing is becoming more popular, especially among younger athletes. With a growing interest in competitive skiing, these athletes represent a bright future for the sport in the U.S. Social media trends indicate a surge in engagement, where fans closely follow their favorite skiers’ journeys. This excitement reflects a broader trend in sports, where athletes are increasingly using platforms like Instagram and Twitter to connect with fans.

These young athletes are not just competing; they are paving the way for future generations. As they gear up for the upcoming season, the ski community eagerly awaits what these talented skiers will achieve next.
