The No. 6 UConn men’s basketball team is wrapping up its home games this season against Seton Hall on Saturday at 12 p.m. This matchup will be broadcast on FS1, featuring Dave Sims and Donny Marshall as commentators.
Before the game, UConn will honor its Senior Class of 2026: Dwayne Koroma, Alec Millender, Malachi Smith, Tarris Reed Jr., and Alex Karaban. These players have collectively made significant contributions, combining for over 5,400 points and nearly 2,500 rebounds during their college careers. Notably, Karaban is close to entering the top 10 all-time scorers at UConn.
Historically, UConn leads the series against Seton Hall 51-24. However, recent years have seen closer contests, with the teams splitting their last five meetings. Earlier this season, UConn managed a 69-64 victory over the Pirates, marking the first win at Prudential Center since 2021.
Last Wednesday, UConn achieved a standout victory, beating No. 15 St. John’s 72-40. This win solidified their position at the top of the BIG EAST standings. With only two games left in the regular season, UConn is in a strong spot to claim at least a share of the conference title. Seton Hall is currently in fourth place, vying for a bye in the BIG EAST Tournament.
In the game against St. John’s, Tarris Reed Jr.’s impressive stats included 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocks. His performance marks him as one of only three UConn players to achieve such numbers against a ranked opponent. UConn’s defense was particularly strong, holding St. John’s to just 19.6% shooting. This was their lowest shooting percentage against a ranked team since 2014.
UConn’s scoring leaders include Solo Ball, averaging 14.1 points per game, and Reed Jr., with 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds. Karaban adds to the mix with versatile contributions across various stats. Notably, Silas Demary Jr. leads the BIG EAST with an average of 6.4 assists per game.
Seton Hall recently played Georgetown, securing a narrow 51-47 victory. Their solid defensive performance has earned them high rankings in defensive efficiency. The Pirates excel in scoring defense, blocks, and steals per game, thanks to solid performances from players like Budd Clark, who averages 12.5 points.
As UConn prepares for this important game, the team’s recent form and seasoned players point towards an exciting matchup. The atmosphere is likely to be charged, especially for the seniors playing their final home game. After this, UConn’s focus will shift to closing the regular season at Marquette on March 7.
