On Saturday, March 28, UGA Miracle proudly announced it raised $1,402,031.26 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta during its 31st annual Dance Marathon. Over 2,000 students, faculty, and community members filled the Stegeman Coliseum to show their support for children’s health.
The marathon featured 13.5 hours of fun, dancing, and fundraising. Participants enjoyed silent discos, live music, and interactive games. It was a day packed with energy and connection, all for a great cause.
“Dance Marathon gathers many people from Athens to support a single mission: improving kids’ health,” said Halle Bryan, the event’s chair. “The passion in this organization is inspiring, especially when we meet the Miracle Families. Their stories remind us why we do this work.”
The event kicked off at 10:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony, dance performances, and a speech by UGA President Jere W. Morehead. Attendees participated in themed hours like “Gameday” and “Magic Hour.” The evening wrapped up with a heartfelt segment called “Circle of Hope.” Here, participants removed hospital bands they wore during the event in tribute to children who face health challenges.

“UGA Miracle has given me and many others a profound sense of community,” stated Helen Arline, program director. “Dance Marathon is 13.5 hours of unforgettable stories, music, and celebration—a powerful way to unite our campus for a cause that matters.”
Throughout the year, students fundraise through campus initiatives and partnerships. Notably, during Greek Week and Presidents’ Day, they raised over $200,000.
For many, the event means more than just fundraising. “UGA Miracle’s Dance Marathon is my favorite event of the year,” said Virginia Miller, finance director. “It’s incredible to be in a room full of passionate people for 13 hours. It shows that college students can unite for real change.”
As the final total was revealed, the excitement in the crowd was palpable. This event not only celebrates their hard work, but it also underscores the significant difference UGA Miracle continues to make for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and its families.
