Digimon Story: Time Stranger is set to launch on both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 this summer. If you’re curious about how the two versions stack up against each other, here’s a quick overview.
According to the recent Nintendo Direct, the Switch 2 will offer two modes. The Performance Mode targets a sharp 1080p resolution with smooth gameplay at 60 frames per second. Meanwhile, the Quality Mode pushes visuals to 4K (or 1080p when handheld) but limits the frame rate to 30 frames per second. It’s worth noting that HDR is available only in Quality Mode.
On the other hand, the standard Nintendo Switch version will stick to a single option: 1080p when docked and 720p in handheld mode, running at 30 FPS. The graphics between the two systems are quite similar, but players might notice some subtle changes in sharpness and lighting on the Switch 2. This version will not support 4K or HDR.
