A lot of computing can now be done right on your smartphone, including photo editing. If you want to enhance your pictures while traveling, your phone is up to the task.

There are many photo editing apps available. The built-in options, like Apple Photos for iOS and Google Photos for Android, are great. But here, let’s talk about Adobe Photoshop, a well-known name in image editing.
On mobile, Adobe offers Photoshop Express Photo Editor, which you can download for free on iOS and Android. While the basic features are free, you can unlock more advanced tools and cloud storage for a monthly subscription of $4.99 or $34.99 per year.
Using Photoshop Express
Photoshop Express is not as complex as its desktop sibling. However, it still packs a punch. Start by tapping on Photo Editor & Retouch and select an image from your gallery. At the bottom, you’ll find tools like Adjustments for colors and brightness, or Crop to remove unwanted parts.
Use the Heal brush to fix blemishes or to erase or duplicate sections of your image. The Background feature allows you to add effects to the backdrop, and the app smartly distinguishes between the background and the main subjects, but you can adjust this selection as needed.
This app also includes AI generation tools. With the Insert Objects button, type a prompt to add AI-generated animals or objects into your photos, tweaking the prompts until you get the perfect fit.
Photoshop Express also lets you apply filters, merge images, add stickers and text, and choose from many borders. Once you’re satisfied with your edits, sharing or saving your work is easy.
Other Adobe Mobile Options
If you’re an iPad user, Adobe has a more feature-rich version of Photoshop specifically for iPadOS. It offers support for PSD files, layers, and advanced retouching. Since the iPad works well with accessories like the Apple Pencil, it can provide a desktop-like experience.
However, this iPad app is not free. You need a Creative Cloud subscription that includes Photoshop, or you can subscribe to Photoshop for iPad for $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year.
Adobe Lightroom is another excellent app available on both iOS and Android. Like Photoshop Express, many features are free, but a subscription ($4.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly) adds more tools, such as the healing brush and batch editing. Premium features are also included if you have a Photoshop Creative Cloud subscription.
Lastly, consider Adobe Express, available on iOS and Android. This app focuses on graphic design and AI art creation. You can combine text and images, adjust basic effects, and more, making it great for quick social media posts. Adobe Express can be used for free or with a subscription ($9.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly) for additional features and storage.
