Erik Byker, a professor at the Cato College of Education, has earned the prestigious UNC Board of Governors Award for Teaching Excellence in 2025. He is part of a select group of 17 faculty members representing all of North Carolina’s public universities.
Byker was also named the University’s 2024 Bank of America Award winner. He believes in empowering students to evolve from learners to engaged scholars who genuinely care about the world we live in. His commitment to student development is truly inspiring.
The Board of Governors highlights the hard work and dedication of educators like Byker. Nominations for the award come from special committees at each school, showcasing faculty who go above and beyond in their teaching roles.
