In 1966, Dave joined KTRK-TV, starting as an on-the-ground news reporter. By 1968, he was anchoring Eyewitness News at 6 and 10 p.m. His career took another leap with the “Dialing for Dollars” show, which later transformed into “Good Morning Houston.” His talent and dedication made him a cherished presence in many households.
In June 2016, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized him as the longest-running local TV news anchor in the same market. After retiring from anchoring in May 2017, Dave continued sharing stories that highlighted Houston’s rich tapestry through his program, “Dave Ward’s Houston.”
Throughout his career, Dave covered major events like space launches, natural disasters, and political milestones. He even interviewed former President Obama and numerous prominent figures, establishing himself as a trusted source for news.
