New Delhi: India currently does not have a general agreement with Iran for the passage of Indian-flagged ships through the Strait of Hormuz. According to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, each ship’s movement is treated as a separate event. In a recent interview with the Financial Times, he confirmed that discussions between India and Iran helped two Indian tankers successfully navigate this vital shipping route.
Jaishankar mentioned, “I am actively talking to them, and my discussions have borne fruit.” He expressed optimism about continued dialogue, stating that if negotiations yield positive results, India will keep pursuing them.
